No Child Wet Behind: All the Details
By now, if you've been following us for more than two minutes, you've probably heard about No Child Wet Behind - our 5K + Fun Run diaper drive charity event happening on Mother's Day. We want to share with you why this cause is so important to our hearts, and how you can get involved.
Diaper Need is Real
If you're like me, or probably most of our friends, if your baby wets or soils their diaper, you probably reach for a fresh diaper out of a whole stack, and change your baby. Maybe even if there's only a tiny amount of pee in it.
But what if you couldn't? What if you ran out with a week to go until payday? What if, at the end of every week or month, you had to choose between diapers and food? What happens when your daycare provider tells you that according to regulations, you have to leave a certain number of disposable diapers each day in order for them to watch your child? How would it make you feel if you had to let your baby's diaper get fuller and fuller, causing rashes and uncontrollable crying, because you had no more?
Desperate...ashamed...guilty...inadequate are a few words that come to mind.
1 out of 3 families struggle to afford diapers. With rising grocery costs, and no government programs or benefits available to help with diapers, families suffer...babies suffer.
We don't think this is acceptable. That's why we have joined together with doula agencies all over the nation to host the Wichita chapter of No Child Wet Behind, a national nonprofit organization seeking to raise diapers and funds for the Changing Wichita Diaper Bank. Here are all the details you need to know about our event, and how you can get involved.

Event Details
The 2017 Wichita No Child Wet Behind includes:
- 5K Race - chip timed, medals, t-shirts, swag bags!
- 1 Mile Family Fun Run - kids 12 and under are free!
Sign up to run in the 5K or 1 Mile
- Children's activity area, including a Mother's Day card making station
- Food and drinks
- Shopping
We will be collecting all of the diapers raised for the event and announce the total!
No Child Wet Behind takes place at Sedgwick County Park, Plum Shelter area. The date is May 14, 2017. The 5K starts at 8:00 AM. The Fun Run starts at 9:30 AM.
