Sara Skiles is the owner and CEO of Wichita Doula, LLC.

She first decided to enter the doula profession in 2012 after the birth of her son. Having a doula at her birth helped her and her husband enjoy a supported, comfortable and intimate labor and delivery experience. However, many of her peers having babies around the same time expressed being unable to enjoy the same memories of their births, increasing Sara's desire to be a supportive, nonjudgmental cornerstone for new families in the community. She took her first doula training and began birth attendance in 2013.

Shortly after becoming a labor doula, Sara realized that while support and care during labor is essential, birth is a very short phase of the challenge of parenthood - where parents were truly in the most need of professional support was the postpartum recovery period. Having experienced two tumultuous postpartum recoveries, her personal experiences with a wide range of stumbling blocks combined with her professional training make her the ideal companion to provide truly empathetic, knowledgeable, and affirming care for those adjusting to life with a newborn while recovering from childbirth.

In 2015, Sara began to focus on raising the bar for the standards of the doula industry in her area. By implementing sustainable business practices and levels of professional accountability, parents could be assured of receiving the best quality doula care with a personal touch. By 2016 she had fully converted Wichita Doula from a solo operation to a full-service doula agency with a team of professional doulas, all trained to the same standardized methods and philosophies of compassionate doula work, further ensuring the integrity of the client's experience. Sara thrives on the challenges of business management, team building, and customer service and has earned considerable skills and experience in these areas.

Sara maintains certifications in a variety of specialties, including doula care, pediatric sleep coaching, and childbirth education. She lives in Wichita with her husband and two sons, and enjoys blogging, baking, fashion, reading, event planning, and art. Sara enjoys public speaking and providing talks, classes, and workshops to educate the public on doulas, labor & delivery, infant sleep, postpartum mood disorders, and recovery from childbirth.
